SPORTSWAYS MANAGEMENT, LTD:
A company established by Fred Barman for the purpose
of organizing sports events and managing professional
athletes as follows:
Gunze World Tennis: Japan's number one tennis
event for twenty years from 1974-1993. GWT was
television's highest rated tennis event in Japan
and leader in box office sales.
World Team Tennis: A major sports league started
by Barman in 1973 with sixteen franchises in major
cities throughout the United States. Play continued
for five years.
Martina Navratilova:
Barman was the first Business Manager/ Agent for
Martina Navratilova when she was seventeen years
old and guided her through her post-defection period
from Czechoslovakia. The relationship continued
for three years during which time she became the
number one ranked women's tennis player in the
world and is considered to be the all-time
greatest female tennis player.

Fred
Barman's background emphasizes experience in
the motion picture/television industry as well
as the professional tennis business. As business
manager for film producers, writers, directors
and actors, Barman was continually involved in
all aspects of production, from negotiation of
contracts to on-stage shooting. He was closely
connected with Jacks Production Company which produced
twenty motion pictures financed and distributed
by Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation. Barman
was Business Manager for David Janssen, Peter Graves,
Troy Donahue and Ray Walston and assisted with
negotiations of their respective television series, “Fugitive,” “Mission
Impossible,” “Hawaiian Eye,” “Surfside Six” and “My
Favorite Martian.”
In the area of professional tennis, Barman is
experienced as an agent and business manager for
players, including the first manager/agent for
Martina Navratilova. He also founded World Team
Tennis a major 16-city sports league and in promoting
Gunze World Tennis for twenty years, Japan's number
one tennis tournament.
Currently, Barman's primary business interests
are in Japan through his company, Barman International
Enterprises Ltd., (BIE) which acts as an agent
in securing Hollywood and international celebrities
for Japanese television commercials. Through BIE,
Barman is also involved with the music publishing
business partnered with TV Tokyo Music Co., and
bringing musical acts to Japan. His knowledge of
Japanese business and customs together with his
American business expertise, qualifies Barman as
a consummate business liaison.
